Position Summary

The Compliance Vice President will be responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of a Compliance Program, which is designed to ensure that the Bank follows various consumer laws and regulations, including the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Truth in Savings Act, Truth in Lending Act, Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Asset Control, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. The Compliance Vice President will actively engage in and may supervise a team of employees who perform the following functions:

  • Monitor and review applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide consultative services to all departments relative to consumer compliance matters.
  • Review of marketing material (solicitations, disclosures, statement inserts, etc.) and customer disclosure documents (such as adverse action notices) prior to implementation.
  • Analyze complaint reports received from the Office of the Comptroller of Currency (OCC) and other government agencies.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain an advanced knowledge of laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance related to the Bank's activities and products
  • Ensure training programs covering applicable consumer regulations are developed and implemented
  • Provide consultative services to all departments relative to the most complex consumer compliance matters and maintain a strong working relationship with all departments
  • Manage staff by providing training, guidance, feedback and performance appraisals
  • Oversee the monitoring of compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Prepare periodic updates for Management regarding the results of compliance monitoring and involvement of the Compliance Department in other activities
  • Assist management with the implementation of procedures that address newly enacted regulations or procedural modifications necessitated by changes in regulations or identified compliance exceptions
  • Ensure that Compliance Policies and Procedures and Compliance Guidelines covering consumer laws and regulations are prepared and updated at least annually
  • Support new product development and major marketing campaigns
  • Coordinate regulatory examinations and internal audits and ensure that departments take necessary corrective action as identified in monitoring reviews by the Compliance Department, and regulatory examinations

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent banking experience
  • A minimum of 8 years of Compliance, Audit, or regulatory examiner experience or equivalent banking experience with emphasis on regulatory compliance
  • Knowledge of consumer protection laws and regulations
  • Leadership/project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and PC skills
  • Knowledge or consumer credit card lending is preferred
