Position Summary

 The Senior Vice President, Audit, is responsible for planning, acquiring, documenting, analyzing, and measuring the overall effectiveness of bank operations in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations. This position will be responsible for performing Compliance, Operational, and Technology audits. Audit reports are prepared to document the effectiveness against regulatory compliance or bank policies and procedures.

 

Summary of Essential Job Functions 

  • Assess internal risk management processes, systems of internal control, and corporate governance processes, across all parts of the bank
  • Expert level knowledge of internal control analyses and risk assessment methodologies, Institute of Internal Auditor Standards, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, internal controls, Sarbanes-Oxley, COSO 
  • Develop and execute a robust Audit Plan, in accordance with Internal Audit standards, relevant government statutes, and regulations
  • Deliver audit reports, Internal Audits, and Regulatory issue validation, as well as business monitoring
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of different Internal Audit standards, policies, and regulations; apply a comprehensive knowledge of high-risk areas, including Consumer Banking, technology management; project/program management, and regulatory compliance 
  • Proactively advance integrated auditing concepts and use of technology
  • Recruit staff, develop talent, and build effective teams
  • Develop effective relationships with executive leaders and has a strong understanding of the financial services industry
  • Analyze reporting findings and recommend appropriate interventions where needed
  • Leverage data-driven approach to problem-solving for a variety of complex and novel audit control issues
  • Estimate staffing requirements and recommends improvements in organization, policies, and procedures
  • Prepare and manage the Audit Department’s Budget
  • Apply an in-depth understanding of the inter-relationships of business and support units throughout the Bank and how they impact the overall control environment and the audit approach
  • Use excellent communication skills in order to influence a wide range of internal audiences
  • Demonstrate strong judgment and political astuteness
  • Possess strong project management and interpersonal skills, makes sound decisions, exhibiting initiative and intuitive thinking. Consulted often by others for advice and opinions and recognized as a leadership role model
  • Participate in major business initiatives and pro-actively advise and assist the business on change initiatives
  • Frequently involved in matters that require complex judgments and solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought such as identifying solutions for a variety of complex and novel audit control issues. Analyze reporting findings and recommend appropriate interventions where needed. Propose creative and pragmatic solutions for risk and control problems. Partner with senior leaders to develop approaches for addressing broader corporate emerging issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Position Requirements 

  • BA/BS or equivalent, with related certifications (CPA, ACA, CFA, CIA, CISA or similar). Graduate degree in related field is a plus
  • 10+ years of senior level experience in Audit
  • Specific subject matter expertise in control disciplines, in addition to the consumer banking business, especially credit cards
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams and managing an integrated internal audit function
  • Effective negotiation skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views. This individual must be an articulate and effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with an energetic, charismatic and approachable style
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels of leadership across the organization
