Position Summary
Credit One Bank is looking for a Risk Strategy & Modeling Intern to be primarily responsible for developing quantitative tools and solutions to drive incremental Bank growth. The intern will develop risk management strategies for account acquisition, underwriting, and portfolio management as well as monitor the performance of our current strategies and models. In this role, the intern will get a look behind the curtain of professional data science and be exposed to the level of standard for analytics and modeling requisite in a professional setting.
Position Requirements:
Undergraduate Junior (entering junior year) or Senior (must have one semester/quarter remaining).
Majoring in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Business Data Analytics, Business Management, Information Management, Information Systems, or a related field.
Present in Las Vegas, NV, for the Summer Internship Program: June 10, 2024 – August 16, 2024 (10-weeks at 40 hours a week).
Preferred experience utilizing Python or R.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
Perform complex analyses and modeling that maximizes profits or asset growth and minimizes credit losses or other risk exposures.
Manage the deployment of new models and the live testing (or pilot programs) derived from them.
Monitor ongoing model performance to ensure stability and efficacy.
Research the impacts of business decisions.
Partner with technology groups to define business requirements.

Program Goals and Objectives:
The intern will learn analytical skills needed to succeed in the corporate environment; gain a better understanding of SAS and SQL using real-world data; develop reporting skills; get experience in developing and executing business strategy.
Model Review and Management - conduct performance assessment of current Bank models, make recommendations for model evaluation methodology, and compile performance reports for submission to federal regulatory bodies (OCC, Federal Reserve, CFPB)
Competitive Intelligence - monitor the consumer card lending industry and conduct analysis to keep leaders informed on emerging trends.
Strategy Development - partner with Credit One Bank analysts and strategy teams to support current initiatives building risk management strategy.
Data Source Evaluation - assess and provide business valuation for vendor data products, and identify the best products for Bank use in prospect targeting and underwriting; credit-underserved populations, cash flow data streams, payroll and employment data streams, etc.
Model Development - under guidance, build a statistical model to a) predict employment turnover, b) forecast dollar loss rates c) predict card utilization d) predict response rates to various products [exact project to be determined by student's knowledge base].
