Position Summary

One of America's leading issuers of VISA® and MasterCard® credit cards in Las Vegas, Nevada, is seeking highly qualified Information Management professionals. We provide credit cards to individuals other banks have historically overlooked because of their less-than-perfect credit. This position is a part of the Data Strategy, Governance, and Analytics group. This team is based in the Information Management department and supports the entire bank. The mission of the data analytics and reporting team is to take the enterprise from its current state of analytics to be more predictive and prescriptive using advanced analytical techniques. Our goal is to analyze a large volume of data using advanced analytics to find trends and answer questions to support business processes and systems. Our data professionals are tasked with creating efficient data analysis pipelines, data mining, statistical analysis and creating powerful visualizations to support the business in their day-to-day decision making.
 
The AVP of Data Strategy & Governance is a subject matter expert in data analytics and business analysis. They will lead a team of data engineers to perform analysis, design, optimization activities and deliver analytical solutions in support of analytical needs of the business across Credit One Bank. They also play a critical role in defining and creating the future state of data and analytics in the enterprise.  Team members are expected to build trust and relationships through effective communication with both technical and non-technical partners within multiple departments to facilitate success.  A successful individual in this role is a leader who contributes to the organization/departmental goals and leads the team to achieve these goals. They mentor and coaches the team in business processes, data discovery, designing efficient, optimized analytical solutions, identifies opportunities to add value to the business and ensures on-time delivery of projects. They identify ways to keep their team motivated and deliver high value projects.
 

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Manages, coaches, and mentors a team of data engineers responsible for delivering strategic initiatives to provide insights for timely, data-driven decisions to the business stakeholders.
  • Leads design discussions with the team to support the development, deployment, testing, and maintenance of high-quality and optimal solutions related to data analysis, data discovery, data pipeline automation, and roll-out of compelling visualizations for business analysis.
  • Possesses solid conceptual knowledge of department tools and applications.
  • Guides and coaches the team to explore diverse source systems to discover data elements and understand business processes to design high value analytical solutions.
  • Serves as an expert consultant to internal technical and line of business teams.
  • Act as a primary contact for the business partner team for work prioritization, project sizing, resource allocation, delivery timelines, quality control, process map adherence, escalations, and project communication.
  • Follows agile methodology to deliver analytical solutions and manages JIRA for all deliverables to the business.
  • Leads conversations on project requirements, develops roadmaps, and provides project progress visibility to partner team executives and senior executives.
  • Leads strategic conversations, presents ideas, results, recommendations, and roadmaps to business stakeholders and executives.
  • Recruits new talent, ensures team’s continuous technical development, and addresses any existing skill gaps.
  • Anticipate issues based on knowledge of internal data trends and propose solutions.
  • Defines and documents departmental processes and standards.
  • Leads projects to support modernization and innovation within the team.
  • Ensures that work and processes are well documented.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Position Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in business analysis, quantitative analytics, data science; preferably within the financial services industry
  • 6+ years of advanced experience using SQL (SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata etc.), data visualization (Tableau, Power BI etc.,), data integration (SSIS, Alteryx, Talend etc.,) and at least one analytical package such as SAS, Python, R, etc. 
  • 2+ years of experience managing a team of analytical professionals.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple, competing priorities
  • Leadership skills to manage and mentor a team of analytical professionals across varying levels of skill and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills - and ability to thrive in a fast-paced complex environment
  • Experience developing requirements and testing analytic solutions collaboratively
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated, collaborative, and innovative.
  • Stays current with relevant technology advancements in the financial industry.
  • Demonstrate company core values of excellence, ownership, collaboration, and integrity.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis, credit, profitability drivers as well as operational analytics
 

Preferred

  • Graduate degree in quantitative area such as mathematics, economics, engineering, computer science, operations research and equivalent industry experience
  • Strong financial analytical skills with the ability to read, interpret, and evaluate, financial time-series tracking reports (including vintage analysis).
