Position Summary

The Employee Relations Consultant is responsible for the general management of the employee relations and HR operations processes and practices. Providing consultation and guidance to managers, delivering and ensuring appropriate responses to any related employment issues that arise, handling full cycle investigations and providing recommendations in partnership with HR and business leadership. The Employee Relations Consultant will contribute to the development and implementation of policies and practices that support a positive employment climate.
 
It is the responsibility of the Employee Relations Consultant to provide advice and counsel to managers and employees in the resolution of employee-related problems, discipline, and discharge. All duties are performed in accordance with Credit One Bank policies, practices and procedures. The incumbent establishes partnerships across the business to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The Employee Relations Consultant will lend critical support to the Assistant Vice President of HR Operations from an administrative, analytics, reporting, and policy enforcement standpoint.
 

Summary of Essential Job Functions

Employee Relations & Compliance

Manage people-related issues with a detailed and solutions-oriented approach, including:
  • Complex employee relations (ER) issues.
  • Disciplinary actions and legal matters (e.g., harassment, discrimination, accommodations).
  • Policy interpretation, application, and investigations.
  • FMLA and ADA accommodations.
  • Ensure appropriate actions are taken to address these issues while providing insight and feedback to managers and stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, county, and city employment regulations.
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze turnover data, and provide actionable recommendations based on findings.
  • Track employee relations and leave administration metrics weekly; conduct quarterly reviews to assess improvement opportunities.

Policy Development & Implementation

  • Assist in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Update and ensure accessibility of the employee handbook, meeting posting requirements.
  • Recommend procedural changes to enhance departmental efficiency and service delivery.

Partnership & Collaboration

  • Partner with business leaders to identify HR needs and objectives.
  • Collaborate with HR leadership to develop strategies that meet organizational goals.
  • Build strong partnerships with managers, senior leaders, and HR colleagues.

Communication & Training

  • Express thoughts clearly and concisely, tailoring communication to diverse audiences.
  • Deliver training and presentations related to HR topics.
  • Facilitate group discussions and problem-solving sessions effectively.

Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative support to the Employee Relations team as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience as an HR Generalist or in a related role, with an emphasis on employee relations and leave administration.
  • At least 2 years of experience providing guidance to management on employee relations issues.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Recent exposure to Nevada employment law and a working knowledge of laws and regulations including EEO/AA, EEOC, FLSA, OSHA, FMLA, ADA, and NLRA.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to mediate as needed.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and competency with other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently, handle ambiguity, and maintain discretion with confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHR certification.
  • Experience with Dayforce or another cloud-based HRIS system.
